After seeing thousands of CVs, the mistakes that appear over and over are always the same. They're not experience mistakes. They're presentation mistakes that can be fixed in minutes.

One. Using a template with columns or skill graphs. It looks nice on screen but the ATS reads it as garbage. Text parsers can't process complex formats and mix up the content in incomprehensible ways.

Two. Listing responsibilities instead of achievements. "Responsible for team management" doesn't tell anyone anything. "Led a team of 6 people and reduced delivery time by 30%" is completely different. Numbers are everything.

Three. A generic professional summary. "I am a dynamic, proactive person oriented toward results with a passion for challenges" is the description of absolutely nobody and everyone at the same time. It says nothing. Replace it with something specific: who you are, what you do, what you're good at.

Four. A CV longer than two pages. For the vast majority of profiles, one or two pages is the limit. Three or more is a signal that you don't know how to prioritize.

Five. Not tailoring the CV to each job offer. This is the most costly mistake. A generic CV that you send everywhere has very low chances of passing the filter of any specific ATS.

Six. Outdated or incomplete contact information. It seems obvious but it happens more than you'd think. Check that your email, phone number, and LinkedIn are correct and up to date.

Seven. Spelling mistakes. A single typo can disqualify you in certain sectors. Use spell check, ask someone to read it, or use a tool that does it for you.

The good news is that all these mistakes are fixable. You don't need to rewrite your CV from scratch. You need to review it with the right mindset.

Resumelyn automatically detects many of these problems when it analyzes your CV and tells you exactly what to improve.
